چکیده
The formulation of a new thermo-mechanical constitutive model consistent with the principles thermodynamics is presented. capable predicting rate-independent behavior fine-grained soils. equations are derived by defining only Gibbs-type free energy and dissipation potential, in accordance hyperplasticity method. addition thermo-elasticity to embedding identified mechanisms into newly proposed enables describe behavior. potential eliminates application shift stress, which results simpler context hyperplasticity. step-by-step procedure deriving equations, as well detailed analysis parameters model, performance shown be good agreement experimental data. A qualitative description possible micro-scale for soils, when subjected temperature variation, presented, step towards including formulation.

Soil Compression Index Prediction Model for Fine Grained Soils
Compressibility of a soil mass is its susceptibility to decrease in volume under pressure and is indicated by soil characteristics like coefficient of compressibility, compression index and coefficient of consolidation. However, the determination of soil compressibility characteristics in the labs is a cumbersome and time consuming process, especially in the case of fine grained soils. In the p...
متن کاملCPT-based evaluation of liquefaction potential for fine- grained soils
Recent ground failure case histories after 1994 Northridge, 1999 Kocaeli and 1999 Chi-Chi earthquakes revealed that low-plasticity silt-clay mixtures generate significant cyclic pore pressures and can exhibit a strain-softening response, which may cause significant damage to overlying structural systems. In this study, results of cyclic tests performed on undisturbed specimens of ML, CL, MH and...
متن کاملA model for coupled electro-hydro-mechanical processes in fine grained soils accounting for gas generation and transport.
A theoretical and numerical model is developed for the quantitative analysis of coupled processes taking place in active waste containment systems, such as electrokinetic barriers or fences, in which a low intensity DC current is circulated across the clay barrier to move polar and non-polar contaminants. A novel feature of the proposed approach is the allowance for the presence of air in the p...
متن کاملA Constitutive Model for Sands
In this paper, an elastoplastic constitutive model is presented for predicting sandy soil behavior under monotonic and cyclic loadings. The model is based on the CJS3 model that takes into account deviatoric and isotropic mechanisms of plasticity. The flow rule in deviatoric mechanism is non-associated and a kinematic hardening law controls the evolution of the
yield surface. In the present...
